High fever, joint pain, and headache usually accompany dengue which falls under chronic illness category. A late diagnosis or if it is left untreated it can be deadly. Since we all know that prevention is better than cure, senior Dietician Neha Pathania, Paras Hospitals Gurgaon, lays down vital diet tips.
As per Senior Dietician Neha Pathania, “Dengue patients have to take heavy doses of medicines and at the same time, if the food intake is less, then, the patient will tend to feel weak and his/ her immunity will be low.”
Know what to eat and omit:
Papaya: It acts as traditional medicine to reduce dengue risk. Papaya juice is a natural cure for dengue fever. Papaya triggers the faster platelet production in dengue patients. For a speedy recovery, drink papaya juice twice a day. This will aid quick recovery.
Oranges: They have a great nutritional value and full of vitamins and antioxidant. Its consumption can be beneficial for the dengue patients.
Boiled food: Patients suffering from dengue don’t like to eat many heavy foods. In such cases, semi-liquid soups can be added in your diet as they are a rich source of minerals and proteins.
Coconut water: dengue leads to dehydration. Coconut water is the best natural resource of water as it contains minerals. Sip on the healthy drink and enjoy its benefits.
Neha Pathania advises, “Up your fluid intake. Drink vegetable juice, fruit juice and avoid consuming tea, coffee, oily and spicy foods.”
